Many Students do not have a Math Mark that is Acceptable. We talked about how to really improve their math marks before the end of the second semester. Math like any skill, has to be practised.
March 08, Homework
You will find the whole lesson in the file. ONLY Question 6 is for homework. Extra help was available at noon today for those who did not understand.
March 10
There will be a unit end test on Fractions on Monday March 15. Students are working on a unit review in the textbook on page 159-161. Reminder that extra help is available every day except Thursday, second half of noon,
Homework. Just do Part A in each of the questions.
TEST ON MONDAY MARCH 15
Students should be practicing by doing unit review questions in text book on pages 159-161.
As well, I gave all students a PRETEST today to take home and work on to see if they can do the questions. I will be giving credit for all the work that is completed and corrected by tomorrow at the end of extra help at noon. Students MUST complete all four of the word problems for homework.
March 17th Homework
Students were given a double sided review sheet to work on where they have to take a fraction and change it to a decimal and then to a percent rounded off to the nearest tenth. (One decimal place). To do this, take the numerator and divide by the denominator. To change a decimal to percent you just mulitply by 100 (as a short cut, you can just move the decimal two places to the right).
March 23 - Today we worked on changing fractions, decimals and percents with this practice sheet. Students need to be able to quickly change back and forth from one to the other.
March 31 Homework. Today we worked on how to calculate NB HST on goods and services in New Brunswick. Students should always estimate first so they can tell if their calculations are reasonable. I have included the powerpoint lesson which includes an example.
